Turkish born Meryem Siemmond carves her sculptures from a variety of stone from her studio at Butley Mills, Suffolk.
She attended Accademia d'arte, A.M.A, insipiring workshops in France, Carrara (Italy), and Germany, with maestros Nicole Durand; Roberto Bricalli; Luca Marovino and Martin Wiese; and Eileen Macdonagh, and has taken part in exhibitions and residencies in the UK, Spain and Morocco.
In 2018-2019 Meryem spent a month at a global stone workshop in Mamallapuram, South India, an archaeological village and with over 200 stone carving workshops - the ultimate destination for an artist sculpting in stone. There, she worked predominantly with granite and Rajasthan marble, inspired by the traditional Dravidian temple carvers.
