17 May - 6 Jun 2020. Sculpt Gallery is delighted to announce a much anticipated solo exhibition of sculpture and paintings by East Anglian artist, Simon Bacon.
Simon's work has continued to evolve since it was first exhibited at Sculpt Gallery in 2014. This exhibition reveals an exciting collection of new figurative bronzes, together with a selection of his emotive life-drawings, which inspire and inform his sculpture.
Private View/Artist's Reception: Sunday 17 May, 11am - 1pm.
With this new body of work, Bacon explores the fragility, ambiguity and uncertainties of human life and its relationship to the changing world.
Bacon constantly pushes the boundaries of figuration within his medium of choice - bronze. His sculpture explores existential themes through figurative expressionism, informed by his career in Osteopathy and Psychology. He conveys a deep interest in the body, philosophy of consciousness, and identity through his work, constraining each bronze sculpture to a unique work of art.
'This singularity and complexity parallels the individual nature of human existence, and includes much more than what is currently seen,' he explains.
Simon Bacon (b. 1969, Essex) trained in sculpture at the London Atelier of Representational Art in 2011 and earned his MA in Sculptural Practice from Colchester School of Art in 2013.
The exhibition continues on Saturdays and by appointment until 6 June 2020.
